Self-proclaimed word-of-mouth agency BzzAgent has received some good and bad buzz in the blogsphere after a New York Times article was written about them. I'm on the fence. And the best way to learn about something, I figure, is to try it.
So I signed up to be a BzzAgent for a Tom Peter's project -- a new book he's written called Project '04. I received my BzzAgent campaign packet in the mail yesterday. To their credit, they make it clear I need to be honest about the buzz I create. The mailing included a nice card outlining "The BzzAgent Code of Conduct," one of which is, "Honest -- Bzz is only effective when it's completely true!"
So far, my experience has been very good. Easy to sign up on their Web site, understandable directions for what I'm supposed to do, and even a personal assistant I can call if I have questions.
I'll admit I'm a Tom Peters fan. His WOW Project rants are right on. But I don't agree with everything he says, and it also takes a healthy amount of patience just to read through all his rants, half-sentences and random thoughts. So I'm not going to pimp this project just because Tom Peters wrote it. It's impossible for any human being to be objective, so I'll give what I think is the best review I can give: an informed-subjective one.
