Old Title: VP/Account Supervisor
New Title: VP/Social Media Analyst
Why Social Media Analyst? Jackie Huba and Ben McConnell gave me the idea. I proposed it to our leadership to help legitimize what we're doing as a agency in this space, and they agreed. But my role won't be quite the number-cruncher job Jackie and Ben describe. I'll be focusing on four things:
- Organizing ourselves internally to leverage the talent and knowledge we have that can contribute social-media solutions to clients.
- Educating our partners and our clients on social media and its opportunities.
- Promoting our agency and our ability to help brands with social media.
- Engaging our current clients to implement social media projects, where it's appropriate.
My primary function is still in our Public Relations group. The change is more to recognize what I've already been doing. I'll be working hand-in-hand with social media evangelists in other disciplines, but we're not starting a new "practice area." We're not embracing social media because it's the new hot thing and we want to make money off of it. We're embracing it because it's the right thing to do. It's real, it's important and it's changing marketing as we know it. As an integrated marketing communications agency, it's our job to be discipline agnostic and provide the best solution to clients, no matter what it is. And that means understanding all the current and future possibilities.
So thanks Jackie and Ben for the idea. And thanks to our management for the new title! (And no, honey, I didn't get a raise.)

Congrats!!!!
You're a rock star. Flame on brother, flame on.....
