A colleague pointed out this site that Midwest Airlines developed to engage customers in its attempt to thwart a hostile takeover by Air Tran. I like the simple style, and anyone who knows Midwest knows about the warm chocolate chip cookies. I don't know a lot about the takeover attempt, but I do know this: aside from Southwest and Midwest, every other airline I've traveled on sucks. I hate all the rest of them. I mean really hate them. I never fly anything other than Southwest or Midwest, unless they don't go where I'm going. And then I cringe when I make my reservation because I know something will go wrong.
There is so little care in the air these days, so I was happy to sign the Midwest petition. I also forwarded the site to some friends. It would be nice if the site were more social-network-like. People can log short statements, but wouldn't it be cool if someone from Midwest was actually maintaining a blog on the site so we could follow the latest developments. Or why not allow people to upload videos or photos in support. Of course, they created a MySpace page for "Chip," their mascot. That's cute and all, but I'd rather interact with a real human. What Midwest has done so well is to be human. I think their effort would be much more successful if their new "social network" were too.
